Socks with things attached to them

Most novelty socks are a flat picture wrapped around a foot. This category is for the ones that aren't — socks with physical objects attached: plush spikes running down the shin, silicone eyes that wobble, ears that stand upright, tails that hang off the back of the ankle.

These are the closest thing sockwear has to sculpture, and they're built differently from ordinary socks. The attachments are usually sewn or heat-bonded onto a thicker knit that can take the weight, which makes them warmer, stiffer, and considerably more noticeable inside a shoe. Many are honestly better understood as house socks or costume pieces than as daily wear.

Practical guidance, because this is the category where people are most likely to be disappointed: check whether the attachments are stitched or glued (stitched lasts, glued does not), assume hand-wash-only unless told otherwise, and read the fit notes twice — the reinforced knit needed to hold a 3D spike in place has much less stretch than a normal sock, so calf fit is genuinely tighter than the size chart suggests.
