Socks with someone's face on them

Custom face socks are a small industry: you upload a photo, they cut out the head, and it gets printed repeatedly across a sock, usually against a loud background. The effect is uncanny at any scale and completely overwhelming in bulk, which is the point.

They are simultaneously one of the most popular novelty gifts and one of the riskiest. A face sock lands brilliantly when the recipient has an established sense of humour about themselves, and lands very badly otherwise. The pet version — a dog or cat's face instead of a person's — is substantially safer and, honestly, usually funnier.

Practical notes: most merchants want a well-lit, front-facing photo with clear separation between hair and background, and turnaround is longer than for stock items because each pair is printed to order. If it's for a specific date, order with at least a couple of weeks in hand.
